Well, 2026 certainly seems to be going by at a pace!


After a very busy conference season from January to March, I recently returned from a series of key customer visits and detectORE™ installations across the USA and West Africa.


An important part of my role as Managing Director is to maintain connections with our customers, re-engage with exploration and mining sites and hear first-hand feedback about our products.


The positive impacts our technologies are having on our customers’ ability to explore faster – plus the insights gained about what still needs fixing in our industry – are a great motivator to maintain our current direction.


In the USA the focus has been on copper-gold porphyry deposits. In particular I’ve been talking about how detectORE™ can deliver fast Au and Cu results through our leach and collect process and how our RokBot™ automated pXRF system speeds and automates the delivery of a broad suite of commodity, pathfinder and alteration elements.


It was a joy to get back to West Africa, a region I’ve lived in and in which I’ve spent over 30 years exploring for gold. There, the focus was on training a new customer in performing their own gold assays on site for use with soils, drill and trench samples. I also spent some time with SEMS, our valued distributor who provide a detectORE™ on-site service and can support detectORE™ deployments for companies across the region.


The trip was made possible because of the extraordinary growth we’ve achieved over the last few years. We’ve built a very capable and experienced team whose focus is to deliver solutions that solve recurring exploration and mining industry problems.


We know time is money, so practical, fit for purpose products to enable knowledge-based decisions is our ongoing mission. Having access to daily, on-site gold assays is transforming how exploration proceeds, as we and our growing number of customers in 43 countries are proving.


Together with our new Melbourne based engineering facility where we have 12 staff, we continue to scale to support manufacturing and product development for a global customer base. We’ve come a very long way in nine years and our best years are still ahead.


There are also a lot of development projects in the pipeline which I look forward to sharing with you throughout the rest of 2026 and early next year at 2027 industry conferences. Meanwhile, enjoy the news below, and please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time.

 



In-field Laboratory Developments

Portable PPB In-field laboratories

In October 2025 we revealed our first prototype detectORE™ shipping container laboratory and launched it publicly at Paydirt’s NewGenGold conference in Perth mid-November 2025. January 2026 then saw us conduct remote field trials at Menzies in Western Australia, which let us refine the design of the container even further.


Since then, we’ve started construction on our first four shipping container laboratories for deployment around the world, designed and built by the fantastic new team in our Melbourne production and engineering facility.


Purpose-made for high throughput (>250 samples/day) gold projects like resource drill outs and grade control applications, container labs can also be dual purpose sample preparation and analytical laboratories for non-gold projects. Our first container sample prep and analytical laboratory has already been manufactured to support copper and lithium exploration.


Custom-built using 20ft/6.06m shipping containers, two labs can be linked together to provide a sample preparation area and a workspace for automated pXRF and LIBS analysis via our RokBot™ system.

To compliment the suitcase-sized laboratory we’re producing for early exploration stage with lower sample throughput numbers and the container-sized laboratories for high throughput, we’re now developing a medium sized, trailer-mounted option.


Ideal for explorers or miners doing around 100-200 samples per day for regional soil surveys, small to medium exploration drilling or grade control operations, the trailer-mounted lab can be custom-designed and built to suit specific project needs.

detectORE™ for Grade Control

and Geomet applications

detectORE™ has recently been working on site at projects in Greenland, Armenia and Ethiopia to assist in grade control applications both prior to – or as an alternative to – traditional wet chemistry or fire assay techniques, and each location has validated detectORE™ by extensive comparison with traditional laboratory analysis.


You might think detectORE™ is only applicable to exploration projects, but its use is far broader. When results are compared to total assay results, the leach-and-collect process is an indication of the leachability of gold, and understanding the recoverable amount of gold as opposed to ‘grade’ can optimise mine scheduling and plant performance and create revenue opportunities.


Using detectORE™ can provide insights into recoverable gold, leach kinetics (residence time) and an understanding of variability across the deposit. It can augment domaining of a deposit and distinguish fast/free milling ore from ore that needs slower processing/leaching.


That all means better blending for optimised recoveries. Identification of ore that can leach faster can reduce unnecessary grinding, optimise cyanide addition, residence time, reduce bottlenecking of tanks, increase production and affect revenue in real terms.

Releasing detectORE™ Results Under

JORC Table 1 – Guidance

The increasing adoption of detectORE™ around the world has led to an increasing number of Stock Exchange (SX) Announcements on The Australian and Toronto exchanges citing its use and results. Extensive QA/QC is embedded in the detectORE™ process to ensure the integrity of the data produced, and to communicate this high standard to customers and the market clearly, we’ve produced a document specially created to assist Competent Persons (CPs) comprehensively report detectORE’s™ process and subsequent results.


The Portable PPB JORC Table1 Guidance document has been written to support CPs completing the JORC Table 1 while adhering to its very prescriptive content outline. The rules surrounding reporting under NI-43101 and the TSX are different to JORC, but cover similar principles.


Ultimately, the CP is responsible for the content of JORC Table 1, and they must satisfy themselves the data are compliant and accurately report what took place during the sample planning, collection, preparation, detectORE™ processing, pXRF reading, QA/QC and comparative commercial laboratory checks. Our guidance document is designed to support CPs complete this task responsibly and thoroughly.

Employee Spotlight: Steve Russell


Steve Russell 

Chief Engineer

As a professional project engineer with Mechatronics and Computer Science degrees, Steve spent the first decade of his career implementing innovative robotic and automation projects at Melbourne-based Lewis Australia for clients in mining, metals casting and automotive applications across Australia, the USA and Canada.


He then spent a decade in sales and business development as Director of Mining at Scott Technology/Rocklabs, before founding Block 10 in 2022.

What began with small consulting and contracting engagements quickly expanded to R&D, pilot and project work across mining and adjacent industries and the evolution of the BX portable sample preparation equipment range.

 

After Block 10 and Portable PPB worked together on several sales and project initiatives, we joined forces in late 2025, with strong alignment and complementary strengths that now provide a compelling end-to-end capability in sampling, sample preparation and analysis.

Upcoming Events: From Australia to the world

Even though it’s a comparatively slower time for conferences and events at the moment, we’re gearing up to connect with customers both new and existing again throughout the rest of 2026.


We’re always happy to be attend Diggers & Dealers in Kalgoorlie this August, and after returning home to Perth for Africa Down Under, we’re off to Salt Lake City, Utah, for the SEG Conference.


In October we’re back home in Australia for the Australian Gold Conference in Sydney, and November will see us taking off for Africa again for Sirexe, Cote d’Ivoire, after Managing Director Simon Bolster’s visit there in April this year – read more in his introduction above.


Next up, our Chief Engineer Steven Russell (read more about Steve above) is off to the Geological Society of London in November for the World Conference on Sampling and Blending.
